Xavier University of Louisiana uses Accuplacer Next Generation scores, along with ACT/SAT scores, to determine placement within English and mathematics courses for new students.
To understand where you will be placed based upon SAT or ACT exams, please review the Test Score Placement Template:
ACT MATH SCORE | OLD MATH SCORE | NEW SAT MATH SCORE | Accuplacer (Classic Elementary Algebra) |
Next Generation (Quantitave Reasoning) | COURSE PLACEMENT |
19 OR LESS | 440 OR LESS | 510 OR LESS | 0-85 | 259 or less | MATH 0990D |
20 - 21 | 440 - 550 | 520 - 540 | 86-108 | 260-269 | MATH 1010, 1015, 1020, 1030I, 2010 |
22 - 23 | 550 - 560 | 109-120 | 270 or more | Math 1030 | |
24 OR MORE | 560 OR MORE | 570 OR MORE | Math 1070 |
Note:
-
Students who pass Math 0990 should not be placed in Math 1030. They can be placed in Math 1030-I, Math 1010, Math 1015 or Math 1020.
- Math 1030 and Math 1030-I have identical content (the Pre-Calculus material), and identical tests, final exam and credit. The only difference is that Math 1030 meets 4 times a week, and Math 1030-I meets 5 times a week. The extra hour a week in Math 1030-I is used to give additional time for practice and review to students with lower placement scores.
